This was my cake that my mom and I made for my 17th birthday. (my sister helped a little too ) Inspired my Alice in Wonderland!
The icing we used is called fondant which was really hard to work with. It took about 5 hours the day before the party just to knead the fondant, color it, knead it again, roll it flat, measure it and layered the cakes. (From 5pm to 10pm. -_-) We used about 5 boxes of cake mix. The top layer was made out of two layers of cake using one box. The middle layer was also made out of two layers of cake with one box of cake mix. And the last one was one whole box of cake mix. This one was only one layer of cake.
*The top layer (light green with red dots) was about 5 inches in diameter and between 2-3 inches high. It was vanilla. *The middle layer (light yellow with orange ribbon as stripes) was 7 inches in diameter and between 2-3 inches high. It was vanilla again. *And the bottom layer (light purple) was 10 inches in diameter and was 1.5 inches high. It was chocolate fudge flavor ^^
The idea of the cake is not that original, I found a picture of it online somewhere and just had to try to make it! The colors are somewhat different from the original one I saw. The other parts we tweaked were the cards on top, the ribbon, flowers, and candles.
In all this was really fun to do but I will never do it again (maybe)
Woot, ten points for me D8 I read comments. *nerd* I've heard of fondant before, and also heard it's a bitch to work with--but the results are flawless and totally worth it by the looks of it. Tell me, how easy was it to cut into? XD A friend and I tried it on a cupcake and we ended up shattering/mashing the poor thing into the counter just to cut the top.
So talkative with strangers... <A<;;; but really, the effort shows, I thought it was a plush hat rather than cake.
Fantastic cake, mate. You did well, especially for a first time working with fondant (I assume from your writing?) It's a great job, and I'm sure others were impressed. : ) How'd it taste?

The butter legion- a socialist movement/mass colab project I started, to trigger artistic change and evolution in Da artists (mainly my watchers), to make them more active and dedicated on DA. Now 170 people strong and growing... A "dangerous cult"? a "new religion"? "artistic version of fight club" or "communist movement"? You decide!
